The Mid North Coast of New South Wales consists of several large river flats and valleys, with hilly sections between each. The Mid North Coast starts at Coffs Harbour and stretches southwards to beyond Taree. Bananas are grown on hillsides in the Coffs Harbour - Nambucca Heads area. Dairy cattle and timber are other industries. Patches of sub-tropical rainforest may be found on the east slopes of mountains.

Rainfall is generally 1000mm-1500mm (40-60 ins) per annum. Rainfall is spread throughout the year, but the summer and autumn months are the wettest.

Thunderstorm days average 20-30 per annum right on the coast, but are 30-40 per annum closer to the ranges inland.

Summer daytime maximums are in the 25C-30C (77F-86F) range. Winter daytime temperatures are in the 16C-20C (61F-68F) range. Temperatures are slightly higher inland during summer.

Frost can occur a few nights per year away from the coast, but rarely does frost occur right on the coast.
